Top 3 Favorite Books

  • Picture Books

1. Knock Knock  by Tammi Sauer Illustrated by Guy Francis. It's super cute, funny and filled with jokes, plus a great story. Unique and original.

Story Time

2. Crash, Splash and Moo  by Bob Shea An awesome book where game show meets picture book. One of the most original ideas to come to picture book land ever. Be prepared to play (read) over and over again, and get your best game show host voice ready pronto!

3. Tilly and Tank by Joy Fleck

A book that holds a sweet story of friendship found in an unlikely character.

  • Chapter Books

  1. The Buddy Files series by Dori Hilsted Butler

    • These books are cute and refreshingly fun. You will find yourself immersed in a mysterious read that will keep you on your toes and turning the pages. Plus you will find fun characters, including a sweet, loveable pup, that will leave you wanting to cuddle up and read for hours.

  2. Nancy Clancy series by Jane O'conner and Robin Preiss Glasser
    • The Fancy Nancy books remain on the list of my top 10 favorite picture books which caries over to the Nancy Clancy chapter books. A fun, loveable character who teaches kids new words in a fascinating way.
  3.  Amelia Bedelia series by Herman Parish and Lynne Avril

    • Amelia Bedelia was a favorite character of mine from childhood. To see her again in these books in a younger version of herself is refreshing and fun. The way in which she uses the literal meaning of every word, instead of considering different definitions, makes it a comical read and educational, too.

The Thing About Leftovers

by C.C. Payne

I was hooked from the first page. I love the cover and how the author had the main character, Fizzy, relate to such a thing as leftovers. And to talk about relating, I've never identified with a  character so well, but for different reasons. I bawled.

Left Out

by Tim Green

Another page turning book. The main character longs to play football and believes he will find success by doing so, in the eyes of other kids. But when struggles to find friends continue, I once again saw myself in this character. It pulled on my heart strings. Plus, I love football

Walking with Miss Millie

by Tamara Bundy

A sweet story about friendship, plus a history lesson on segregation in the south. This novel had me recalling the sweetness of my grandmothers and the things they lived through. Loveable characters and sweet adventure on every page.
